Customer Reviews

Worked well in place of Ambien
After several episodes around the house (one of which involved shaving my cat) which culminated in a 2:00 AM shopping trip to Walmart with no memory, my doctor took me off Ambien.I tried different things until I saw these one day and thought I'd give it a try even though I was not familiar with the brand. The price was good and I loved the high pill count. These pills did not put me to sleep as fast as Ambien, but I also didn't "sleep drive" while taking them, so that was good. I usually take 2 after I'm all settled in for the night, set the timer on the TV and I'm usually off in about an hour.I do stay asleep during the night and very rarely wake up with a groggy feeling. I managed to get my body on a trained schedule now, but I do keep these on hand for those nights that I just can't sleep. If my review has helped you while considering this item, please click "Yes" this review was helpful to let me know. Thanks!

Alleged Drug Abuse By DEA Officer

A  story out of Maine  points out a real problem in law enforcement – our reliance on the good character of our police officers and what can happen when their reputation is besmirched.

The facts of the case are that a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) Officer was charged with abusing drugs. (Side note: MDEA is also the abbreviation for an illegal hallucinogen with the street name “Eve.”) The officer, Kirk Guerrette is alleged to have taken a three month supply (360)  Ambien  in less than two weeks as well as trying to pass bogus prescriptions to get more drugs.

Since one of the  side effects of Ambien  is memory loss, and since the alleged drug abuse wasn’t mentioned when Officer Guerrette obtained a warrant in a recent case, the question is whether his affidavit should hold up in court. The larger question is how reliable can testimony be when the arresting officer is found to be a substance abuser?

In this case, there are 44 other matters in which this officer was the lead investigator – should all those be reexamined or retried? One affidavit filed against the officer claims, “His friendship and badge of authority allowed him to bypass normal channels of the pharmacy. During 2008 alone he acquired over 2,500 pills in a 90-day period.”

Ambien Addiction: What You Should Know

The Food and Drug Administration currently lists Ambien as a Schedule IV drug, meaning it is considered to have a relatively low potential for abuse. Ambien shares space on this list with  benzodiazepines . Ambien has several characteristics that make it an attractive choice for the treatment of insomnia and some risks.

Advantages of Ambien

Ambien has a quick onset – about 15 minutes – and leaves the body after about 8 hours. The effects generally start falling away as soon as 3 hours with a normal dose. This means patients can use the drug to fall asleep, but probably won’t have any after-effects the next morning.

Ambien also has very few drug interactions of note. The major interaction is with other central nervous system depressants and especially  alcohol . It can also be used in the elderly at a lowered dose.

Disadvantages

Doctors may overprescribe, and patients may overuse which may cause ambien addiction. It is such an easy and quick solution for insomnia that proper sleep studies or examinations for deeper problems may never be done. The drug has been and continues to be prescribed for much longer than the short-term recommended by the manufacturer.

Grandpa Rules, Notes on Grandfatherhood, the World's Best Job

Ambien or Any Sleep Aid Unless you live in a jet engine testing facility, when your grandchildren visit you will need absolutely nothing to help you get to sleep at bedtime. And to grandfathers, “bedtime” means any time after Oprah.
About this book
Fourteen years ago, Mike Milligan learned he would become a grandfather for the first time. He was surprised to find that there was little or no information available on what it means to be a grandfather, how to make the most of the experience, and how to be the best grandfather possible. Sure, there were shelves of books dedicated to grandmothers ”all with cuddly covers depicting spring bouquets or gentle little lambs. But there was not a single book that spoke to him, a sixty-four-year-old grandfather-to-be....

Has anyone else had any weird side effects to the sleep aid Ambien?

My girlfriend told me twice now i've gotten up now in the middle of the night just talking about nothing and I have no memory of this. I also make strange phone calls and texts at night to friends and when I wake up don't have any memory at all of them!

I got very strange while taking ambien. I ended up in the state hospital for a few days - it took at least 2-3 days to settle down again. I do have serious psychiatric problems, but NOTHING like it was on ambien.

some people go driving

Google on it. Thousands of people have had weird side effects from Ambien. You should find out more about it.

Is the generic version of the sleep aid Ambien any different?

The generic seems to make me very groggy in the morning. I wondered if anyone else has tried it.

Just my experience, but I thought it was really crappy. I wasn't groggy the next day, but I had funny dreams and would wake up at about 5am. My doctor (a sleep disorder specialist) said he's had a lot of complaints about it.
I was fine when I went

Being tired in the morning can be one of the side effects of ambein and just because it's the generic doesn't mean that it's different than ambien- they are the same medication, but one is just cheaper than the other.
