  • Acetaminophen, Aspirin and Caffeine

Product Description

For temporary relief of the pain of headache, sinusitis, colds, muscular aches, menstrual discomfort, toothache and minor arthritis pain. Extra Strength Headache Relief is a combination pain reliever that contains acetaminophen, aspirin and therapeutically active caffeine. Doctors call the enhanced pain relieving effect provided by products that contain caffeine in combination with acetaminophen and aspirin "caffeine adjuvancy". And doctors believe that these non-prescription combination pain-relief products offer major advantages for headache sufferers. Many doctors recommend a non-prescription combination pain reliever like Headache Relief as an alternative before prescription medications. Interestingly, caffeine is also an ingredient in many of the most frequently used prescription headache medications. In independent studies of patients with tension-type headache, the combination of acetaminophen, aspirin and therapeutically active caffeine was shown to provide superior pain relief over acetaminophen alone. In three clinical studies, 94% of patients needed only one dose of Extra Strength Headache Relief to relieve tension-type headache pain.

Customer Reviews

Great product, beware the price
This product, which is a generic form of Excedrin, contains the exact same ingredients as Excedrin - as do all generic products that contain the listed ingredients. Therefore, there's only ONE reason to choose one of these products over another: price.Be aware that prices on the same items may change drastically on Amazon, even within a short period of time. Some people who ordered this for $4.00 only a few months ago may unthinkingly re-order without checking the price this time. The price, in fact, has MORE THAN DOUBLED since then. Disregard the reviews that comment on the great price. They're referring to the OLD price, not the new one, which is almost as much as you would pay for the brand name product. Shop around a bit and ALWAYS check Amazon's prices against prices locally or at other sites. This is a ridiculous price for a generic item which I can still get at the local Wal-mart for a little over $4.00 (less than half Amazon's price). I've ordered this item from...
Stronger and Lasts Longer Than Acetaminophen Alone
I suffer from headaches constantly....99% of the time it's nearly all day, every day. I was taking two 500mg acetaminophen's about every 4 hours prior to this medicine. I can't take straight NSAIDs as it tends to hurt my stomach, even though that's what works best. The tri-combination in this medicine works wonderfully though. I take two pills twice a day now, and if my head or body is hurting more that day, I take just one pill in between the two doses which seems to help. The dose lasts longer than acetaminophen alone and provides no negative side effects. The caffeine doesn't affect me that I can tell, but I don't think I am very sensitive to caffeine to begin with. Overall, I would recommend this to others, but would advise caution to extended use of NSAIDs.
Just as good as the name brand
This twin pack is an excellent price compared to the name brand, Excedrin. You get two 100 count bottles with child-proof caps. The ingredients are also the same as Excedrin. My husband suffers from frequent migraines and Excedrin is the only pain reliever that helps him. He has found this off brand product to be just as good as Excedrin for migraine & headache relief.

Botox Treatments Not So Effective for Migraine Headache Relief

On a review of 31 trials investigating Botox’s effectiveness in reducing migraine and chronic tension headache symptoms. Studies comparing Botox to placebo showed a slight decrease in the number of migraine headaches per month among Botox users, but no difference between patients when it came to chronic tension headaches. In trials that compared Botox to other headache treatments, there was no statistically significant difference in the number of headaches patients reported each month.

“I was surprised that the [migraine] benefit was so minimal,” says Jackson. “I was also surprised that Botox doesn’t work to relieve tension headaches.”

( VIDEO: The Mouthguard that May Help You Cope with Stress )

Most chronic migraine sufferers who used Botox in the studies experienced just two to three fewer headaches each month on average, compared with those getting placebo injections.

For tension headaches, however, which the American Headache Society says is the most common type of headache, Botox doesn’t seem to be of much help at all. Botox is usually only prescribed for the 3% of adults whose tension headaches occur on 15 or more days a month, at which point they are considered to be chronic tension headaches. In most cases, stress, fatigue, hunger, overexertion or even poor posture can trigger headache onset. That’s why experts believed tension headaches could be particularly amenable to treatment with Botox, Jackson says: the theory was that the muscle-paralyzing drug would relax the contracting muscles that led to shear forces and strain in the skull, which could cause tension headache pain.

Botox Migraine Treatment Questioned by Experts

The efficacy of Botox as a treatment for migraine headaches was called into question this week in an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Approved for therapy of chronic migraine headaches in 2010 after a number of patients reported headache relief subsequent to Botox injection for wrinkles, the treatment had been the subject of multiple previous studies, and is a multimillion dollar health care expense on an annual basis. In the new study, authors reviewed the previous scientific literature and analyzed their combined results.

Migraine headaches affect 15 percent of people in the United States. They are usually deep and throbbing in nature, and worsened by light, movement and straining. Although classically described as unilateral in nature, up to one-in-four people may have bilateral pain. Other symptoms may include nausea and vomiting, nasal stuffiness and teary eyes. About 20 percent of people experience a preceding “aura”, which may include flashing lights, zigzag lines or numbness. Certain factors may precipitate migraine headaches, including stress, lack of sleep and certain foods.

honey, do you have sinus trouble? allergies? Try taking a sinus medicine with advil or tylenol in it and see if that helps...good luck - but honestly if that doesn't do the trick you really need to see a doctor - you don't want anything serious to be

If you have truly had a headache for a month straight, I'd advise you to seek medical help. I am only mentioning this to err on the side of caution. Many medical issues arise when your symptom is sustained headache for long periods of time.. such as

Its probably a stres headache but if you have them for more than a month then go see your doctor. What works for me is to lay down and put a cold rag on top of my fore head and on my neck. Or have someone rug your neck and shoulders that helps relieve
