These really will normalize your digestion/bathroom habits
Update to original review from 9/20/08:I used these pearls for several years with great results, but that has changed. (Please see my additional followup below)First let me say that I know what Acidophilus is. But there is no reason that it should have any lactose, if ineed they do. I'm not ALLERGIC to milk, only very sensitive to lactose, huge difference. But there are people out there with milk allergies, so this is important.I don't know if this new labeling is a cover-your-butt legal thing or if there really IS milk/lactose left in them, but I was made VERY ill by them, read on:I used to be able to take these pearls to balance out my IBS-D issues, but no more. This product will still work just fine for those with CONSTIPATION, it certainly kept me in the bathroom for several nights, sicker than I've been in a long time.I have IBS-D accompanied by severe lactose intolerance. The acidophilus pearls used to help...
Formula Appears to Have Changed - Milk Residue??
These acidophilus pearls are easy to store, pack, and take. If you've recently taken a round of antibiotics, you NEED to take acidophilus in some form to re-establish these friendly bacteria in your bowels. Do a Google search to find out why in detail. Not to be too graphic, they help your system eliminate better, plus acidophilus bacterium produce B vitamins as by-products of their work, a big benefit to your body and your general health. Highly recommended for acne sufferers and anyone who has undergone antibiotic therapy. One other perk of this product: the pearls are specially designed to survive your digestive system's somewhat harsh environment (most harsh: the strong acids in the stomach itself) so that they can ultimately colonize in your bowel; you can't always be sure how much of the acidophilus in yogurt and other cultured dairy products will survive the trip.

Glenn's Strategies for Well-Being: Proper Digestion

*If people in this country were actually eating the right foods in the right way, there would be no reason for us to rely on gallons of antacids or acid inhibitors, or enormous amount of laxatives.
We have come to a point where many of us actually need these chemicals to help us digest our food, assimilate its content, and finally eliminate its waste byproducts. It is rather ironic that with the magnificent digestive system we’re equipped with (in my opinion, the most spectacular piece of machinery ever built. Check it out sometimes.), we still suffer from mechanical breakdowns like gas, cramping, constipation, and generally feeling sluggish after eating. These “red flags” to pop up, yet many of us continue to ignore them, and remain oblivious to the potential problems they can lead to.
There is no question we are not eating the right foods. We consume an incredible amount of soda, caffeine, drugs, and alcohol, which all interfere with the normal digestive processes so that when we do eat (and depending on what we eat), we suffer the consequences. Adding stress and eating on the run creates a combination of factors that can lead to heartburn and indigestion, and may develop into ulcers and colon disease.
Life coach: What is causing the bitter taste in my mouth?
18.05.12
The taste disturbance has been reported to occur one to two days after the
ingestion of Chinese white pine nuts (Pinus armandii). Fortunately, the
reaction goes away on its own within one to four weeks. Most importantly, it
hasn’t been linked with any adverse health effects.
Why it occurs is a mystery, as it only seems to happen with some pine nuts and
to some people. It has been suggested that as pine nuts spoil easily, it
could be caused by spoiled nuts. But it has occurred with fresh nuts.
Another possibility is that it is linked to a fungus growing on the pine
nuts.
But when the Poisons Centre in Belgium researched this phenomenon in 2001, no
specific cause could be demonstrated. When batches of pine nuts shown to
cause the unusual taste were compared with batches that didn’t, no chemical
differences could be found to which the bitter taste could definitely be
attributed.
The Food Standards Agency in the UK has received several reports of this
problem and, although it has stated that it is not a food safety issue, it
is continuing to monitor these cases.
Another key factor in warding off disTHE OTHER PROBLEM: YEAST ... Children's recurrent ear infections are almost always treated with round after round of antibiotics, but that only serves to perpetuate the problem.
